If your business requires a specific license or to be certified in specific categories, the cost of obtaining them is completely deductible from your income on your tax return. Also, you can deduct the cost of courses, workshops, and training needed to maintain or improve your skills for your business or if the training is required to maintain your license. However, you can’t deduct the cost of training or education if it is needed to meet the minimum requirements of your business or if it qualifies you for a new business.
